What it is, and what it is not
A place to practice writing
Humdrum gives a child prompts, playful ways to begin, and a library of their work. There are no grades, rubrics, red marks, points, streaks, or leaderboards.
Not the lesson plan
Humdrum does not teach a full scope and sequence, assign papers, or grade grammar. Keep the curriculum that works for your family. Humdrum gives the child somewhere to actually write.
Kids write the words. AI does not write for them.
Humdrum never generates, finishes, or polishes a child's story. It notices techniques the child already used and adds them to the writer's growing set of Writing Powers.

Click Try writing. The child can pick a prompt, open a blank page, or try another starting point. No email yet.

Sign up to keep it
When you want to save the writing, a parent or guardian uses their email, a one-time code, and consent. Guest writing can move into a family profile.

Stories collect in the library. Humdrum notices craft already on the page without writing for the child.

Use your curriculum for instruction. Use Humdrum when the child needs somewhere calm to begin, follow an idea, and keep writing. You do not have to choose one or the other.
A simple first week
This is a parent suggestion, not an in-app program.
Day 1
Click Try writing and let the child write a little. Sign up with a parent email when you want to keep it.
Later that week
Open the same story or start another. Try one Side Quest if the child wants a little structure.

Is Humdrum a homeschool writing curriculum?
No. Humdrum is a place to write. It can sit beside IEW, Brave Writer, Essentials in Writing, or no curriculum at all.
Does AI write for my child?
No. Kids write every word. AI only spots techniques, such as simile or alliteration, that are already in the writing. Kids never chat with AI.
What ages is it for?
Humdrum is designed for about 4th through 8th grade, roughly ages 9 to 13.
Is it secular?
Yes. Humdrum is secular. It does not contain a faith track or religious lessons.
Can I see what my child wrote?
There is no separate parent dashboard. The parent owns the family account and can sit with the child in the account. For an export, email hello@noticehumdrum.com.
What happens after the 14-day trial?
Humdrum Free keeps prompted and blank writing, saved stories, editing, the library, and Author Bio. Family Premium keeps the additional writing tools after day 14.
Does it work for a child who will not type?
Humdrum is typed writing in a web browser. It does not have a published speech-to-text path, so it may not be the right fit if typing is the main barrier.
